Hi. I'm Steve.
During the pandemic of 2020, I was forced to reassess and I realized that my life was no longer aligned with what was most important to me—family, simplicity and a connection to nature.
In May of 2021, I quit my dream job…and moved across the country to the Black Hills of western South Dakota.
One Grand Adventure
In July of 2020, I began teaching myself to paint as an outlet for the stress, frustration and anxiety that I was juggling. I launched a weekly livestream show on YouTube where I share my “learning to paint” journey.
Prior to this, I had zero artistic training, so I decided to learn using YouTube videos. As this new hobby consumed me, I began to ask the question, “how can I make more time to paint?”
This led me to the decision to leave teaching (which I love) and take on remote freelance work as a business strategist, trainer and speaker.
What is SR Communications Group?
Founded a decade ago, SR Communications Group is a freelance consultancy by which I manage the various projects with which I’m involved.
These include projects like the following:
Business strategy and Business startup support/training (Lean Startup, Go-to-Market strategy, etc)
Curriculum and Corporate Training Design
Training and Speaking (Sales, branding/marketing, innovation and technology)
I previously served as the Entrepreneurship Instructor at the Arkansas School for Mathematics, Sciences and the Arts, one of the premier public, residential high schools in the country.
I designed and originated a capstone curriculum which led my student teams to the finals of the Arkansas Governor’s Cup—a statewide, collegiate-level business plan competition—three times in a row.
Prior to my stint in education, I served as the Director of Communications for The Venture Center, a tech startup incubator in Little Rock, Arkansas.
I hold a master of science degree in media management from Arkansas State University.
